Promoting space exploration and science in the Dallas/Fort Worth area
June meeting change
NO MEETING AT SPRING CREEK BBQ SUNDAY JUNE 10, 2012
WHAT: Discovery Days
WHEN: Sat June 9, Sun June 10, 2012
WHERE: Dallas Museum of Nature & Science
Normally, we would meet June 10 at 3:30 pm at Spring Creek BBQ in Irving. However, this month, we’ve been invited by the Dallas Museum of Nature & Science to be presenters for their DISCOVERY DAYS: Discover the Perot Museum on two days: Saturday June 9 and Sunday June 10. So you can find us at the Dallas Museum of Nature & Science at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas, hosting an information booth and making presentations on space science! We are excited to be able to participate in this event.
The Museum of Nature & Science, currently located in Fair Park, is expanding into an exciting new facility in Victory Park, the Perot Museum of Nature & Science, which will open in early 2013. Through a weekend of hands-on demonstrations, art activities, and live presentations, guests will get a sneak peak at some of the areas of science to be featured in their new facility.
The National Space Society of North Texas, which is the local chapter of the National Space Society (a non-profit international organization), promotes and supports public education regarding the space sciences, NASA’s space programs and the advancement of commercial spaceflight and space development for the betterment of humanity. At Discovery Days, the chapter will distribute free literature about recent and future space exploration initiatives, plus copies of the quarterly NSS publication, Ad Astra; exhibit several displays touching on the Moon, asteroids, space stations and more; offer presentations on various space-centered topics; and provide space-themed activities for children of all ages.
See you there!
