Art Contest

To accompany our publishing of the poetry winners later in 2012, NSSNT is hosting an Art Contest to use in our upcoming 2012 Poetry Anthology!

MARS: THE NEXT FRONTIER

DEADLINE: for submissions is Apr. 1, 2012.

GUIDELINES: Images may be in any medium, but must be an electronic file (JPG or GIF or PNG or TIFF) and sent as an email attachment. Images should be 300 dpi minimum. The page size for the anthology is 5.5″ x 8.5.

SUBJECT/THEME: The subject is space, which includes planets, moons, stars, galazies, etc., which fits with the title of our next anthology: Mars: The Next Frontier. NSSNT will not consider any material deemed too “adult” as this anthology is also available to children (ie. no more than a PG rating).

The subject is NOT about science fiction or fantasy. Please do not send aliens or with technology that is not currently available or already suggested by science/scientists, etc. If there is a question about the subject, please ask by emailing Alley at AlleyPat@ gmail.com (no spaces). You can use NASA/JPL images as long as they are public domain. To see what we accept, see the samples of art and created images on the NASA sights as a guide.

SUBMISSIONS: All material must be submitted electronically as an email attachment. Send material to Alley at AlleyPat @ gmail.com (no spaces). Please provide a brief bio of yourself and the work submitted. A downloadable file is provided on this page below. Please fill out the form and return it with your submission.

COPYRIGHT: All material copyrights remain with the owner/creator. By submitting, the owner/creator grants NSSNT permission to use the image in their next Poetry Anthology to be published in 2012. A simple contract will be emailed if the image is selected for the anthology and/or to be published on the NSSNT website. Winners will be eligible to be placed on the cover of the anthology. NSSNT reserves the right to resize the material or change it to black & white or sepia, etc., only to condense the file, but will otherwise leave the image as is.

PRIZES: Are yet to be determined. Please check back for updates. Winners are eligible to be used in the Poetry Anthology and on the NSSNT website. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize plus several Honorable Mentions. Winners will receive an award which will be presented at Fencon in Sept., 2012, for MARS: THE NEXT FRONTIER Anthology, and mailed to the recipients unable to attend.

Questions? Please write Alley at AlleyPat  @   gmail.com (no spaces).

Good luck!

CORRECTION ADDED 2/4/12: image resolution should be 300 dpi minimum.
CORRECTION ADDED 1/08/12: image resolution should not exceed 300 dpi.
CORRECTION ADDED 12/09/11: actually there are 2 topics available. THE EIGHTH CONTINENT is being published for a ConDFW Feb. 2012 release. The next Poetry Contest will be MARS THE NEXT FRONTIER and will be published and released at FenCon in Sep 2012. Sorry for any confusion. That was my mistake.
New deadline: April 1, 2012
Please use MARS THE NEXT FRONTIER as the basis of your project for this contest, however, any submissions before today are eligible for THE EIGHTH CONTINENT publication and/or MARS THE NEXT FRONTIER (ie, both publications). Thank you. Alley

    For your information:
The page size for the anthology is 5.5″ x 8.5 ” The printer prefers 300 dpi. I hope this information is helpful to you as you plan your submission.

300dpi is a minimum, not a maximum. I hope there is no confusion about this.
