Moon Day 2011

 

Moon Day was a lot of fun for everyone! Kids got our brand new bags with NSSNT logo and lots of info. We had a huge booth with tons of handouts and info, and several NSSNT members conducted presentations in the auditorium.

Saturday, July 16, 2011, is our annual MOON DAY event! Held as always at the fabulous Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas, from 10 am to 5 pm.Moon Day Poster

Join us for a day full of unique displays, interesting programs, and great family activities!

The annual MOON DAY is a celebration of space exploration, celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the first moon landing, with exhibits from not just NSSNT, but the Dallas Mars Society, the University of North Texas, the Moon Society, UTA Planetarium, the Civil Air Patrol,the Fort Worth Astronomical Society, the UT Dallas Center for Space Sciences and more.

In the kids classroom, local SSA and CAP and NSS of NT member Cynthia Whisennand will give her Toys in Space talk again, and Brookhaven College Astronomy & Physics Lab is looking again into having a Moon rocks class using the lucite disks from JSC.

Alan Chan, who most recently has been working on the Green Lantern movie, has given NSSNT President Ken Murphy permission to screen the movie Postcards from the Future.

Speakers include Starman Ron DiIulio who is a Solar System Ambassador (SSA), Spaceminers.org, Bob Finkelman, Dr. James Carter, Ken Ruffian, Pat Hauldren, Jason Major, and many others.

2010:

The Frontiers of Flight Museum hosted their annual Moon Day event on July 18, 2010. Members of NSSNT attended to provide information about space, the National Space Society, and sell raffle tickets with the proceeds going to our annual Space Science Award to one recipient at the Science Fair in Dallas. Here’s our second raffle winner with NSSNT member Grace.
